Skyway Elementary is located in the shadows of Cheyenne Mountain, in the southwest part of Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Cheyenne Mountain is home to NORAD and the world-famous Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. The historic Broadmoor Hotel is also nearby.

The Skyway staff believes that CHARACTER is the foundation upon which everything else is built. We emphasize character trait words every month.  August is "caring," September is "respect," October is "responsibility," November is "kindness," December is "teamwork," January is "manners," February is "fairness," March is "helpful," April is "trustworthy," and May is "citizenship."  We recognize students for their efforts in practicing these character traits by catching them being good. Students who are caught practicing these desired traits may receive "Comet Blue Slips" for positive behaviors. We also recognize students through our Shining Star Program. Each month, two students from each class are recognized for their citizenship behaviors and attitudes.

4/19/18

On Thursday, May 3rd, Skyway will host its annual Kindergarten Orientation for incoming students from 1:00-2:30 PM.  In order to welcome our incoming kindergarteners, all current kindergarteners will be dismissed at 11:15.  No lunch will be provided on this day in order to prepare for parents.

PTO will be hosting a second meeting in April to conduct officer elections and discuss the annual Barn Dance.  All are welcome to attend on Monday, April 30th, at 6:00 PM.

The final band concert of the year will be Tuesday, May 1st at 6:30 PM.  There will be a day concert at 9:00 AM if that better fits your schedule.  Hope to see you there!

GR3 students will be going to the Pioneers Museum, followed by lunch at Bear Creek Park with a return by 12:30.  Any field trip questions may be answered by Mrs. Maxedon or Mrs. Rychener at 475-6150.

The annual Art Show is Wednesday, April 25th, from 5:00-6:30 PM.  Come by and check out student art and engage in some fun family activities.  Cookies and lemonade is sponsored by Skyway PTO.  Hope to see you there!

Fourth grade students are going to the Mining Museum Tuesday, April 24th from 8:45-12:30.  Call the office and ask for Mr. Stevens or Mrs. MacLennan if you have questions (475-6150).

Friday, April 20th, has been reserved for a Professional Learning Community day.  Teachers will be in training all day so there is no school for students.

Come one, come all!  The marathon continues at Skyway every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 7:15-7:55.  Collect those sticks to equal 25.2 miles in preparation of the final mile at Cheyenne Mountain High School the last week of school.  This year's focus is mathematics and all the ways math helps our brains function!
