Skyway Elementary is located in the shadows of Cheyenne Mountain, in the southwest part of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Cheyenne Mountain is home to NORAD and the world-famous Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. The historic Broadmoor Hotel is also nearby.
The Skyway staff believes that CHARACTER is the foundation upon which everything else is built. We emphasize character trait words every month. August is "caring," September is "respect," October is "responsibility," November is "kindness," December is "teamwork," January is "manners," February is "fairness," March is "helpful," April is "trustworthy," and May is "citizenship." We recognize students for their efforts in practicing these character traits by catching them being good. Students who are caught practicing these desired traits may receive "Comet Blue Slips" for positive behaviors. We also recognize students through our Shining Star Program. Each month, two students from each class are recognized for their citizenship behaviors and attitudes.
To provide a school community, and foster an environment, in which everyone is safe, happy, and challenged to learn and grow to the best of their potential; where foundations of academic, emotional, social, and physical preparation are laid to face tomorrow's challenges; where respect and integrity are fundamental. Above all, Skyway embraces a leading educational experience where learning is a shared passion.
